Found a flat in Newquay

I have taken a flat in Newquay! Very excited and pleased to have got somewhere at last. It was the last place I saw on my flat-hunting trip and the only place in Newquay that was suitable for me.

Ironically, I didn’t get this flat through an agent. It was advertised in the window of the Choc Box - a newsagent in the centre of Newquay where everyone goes to find rooms to rent and so on. Compared to the places I saw through the agents, this flat is much better value for money. It is really worth shopping around in Newquay and not just relying on the two or three estate agents in town who do rentals. Check the Choc Box and the Cornish Guardian, which comes out on a Wednesday.

I finally chose Newquay as my preferred destination, after a lot of pondering. Penzance is a lovely town and the flats I saw were better value for money than Newquay. But my key reasons for moving are to do more extreme sports and get a business going — and Newquay is a better place for both of those. In any case, initial six-month lets are the norm here, so I have the option of changing location in a few months’ time if things don’t work out for me.
